About Us

History

Wells Center was established in 1968 by a group of community members wanting to improve the health of its community. A nonprofit agency, Wells Center's mission includes provision of treatment services to individuals and family members, as well as prevention education for the entire community. The founders' original goal for total community wellness still resides in our program today.

Locations

We are located in Jacksonville, Illinois. We focus on serving the residents, employers, and health providers of Morgan, Scott, Greene, Calhoun, and Jersey counties who seek behavioral health care, but treatment services may be available to individuals residing outside this area.

Accreditation

Wells Center is accredited by CARF for Adult and Adolescent Outpatient Treatment Programs, Intensive Outpatient Treatment, Residential Treatment, and Detoxification. We have been awarded the highest level of accreditation offered by CARF since our initial application. We maintain a certified staff with a vast menu of clinical specialty areas. The adoption of the American Society of Addiction Medicine's (ASAM) patient placement criteria in 1994 redefined our clinical services, making them consistent with recognized, effective health care trends. Daily staffing ensures that all patients are receiving treatment in the most appropriate level of care.

Funding

Funding for our facilities is provided by the Illinois Department of Human Services Division of Alcoholism & Substance Abuse. We also receive support from the Prairieland United Way. Community donations are also welcome.

Wells Center accepts State of Illinois Medicaid, private insurance, self pay and sliding scale payments for those qualifying for DHS/DASA assistance.

Mission Statement

The mission at Wells Center is to improve the health and welfare of individuals and families affected by the use of alcohol and other substances and by mental health issues.

Wells Center dedicates its efforts to providing levels of care and support services in settings appropriate to the individual needs of the patient.

This mission to provide appropriate and compassionate care can promote healthy lifestyles and further the goal of total community wellness.
